Ferrari 7DCL750 Repair

Getrag 7 speed DCT, 7DCL750 dual clutch for repair
Clutch Basket for the 7-speed DCT Transmission

Getrag's 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCL750) is a fast shifting, high performance DCT. Despite being a "high performance" unit, it does have some issues that almost always requires removal of the unit to repair.

Such faults can include:

  • CCP Pressure Sensor and/or Actuator Faults (P0841, P0842, P0843, P8046, P0847,P1902, P1903, P1904)
  • SAP Actuator Faults (P0751, P0752, P0753, P0756, etc...)
  • Speed Sensor Faults (P2745, P2746, P2747, P2748, etc...)
  • Temp Sensor Faults (False "overheat" message)

Once you have identified the fault is internal, source a quality repair kit. Buying kits from Ferrari are very expensive and sometimes incomplete. This is a repair kit that includes all the needed solenoid O-rings, seals and gaskets. We specifically went in to replace the pressure sensors. Clutch 1 and Clutch 2 are the 40-Bar sensors. The main pressure sensor is a 60-Bar (do not mix them up!!!). If you have E-Diff, you will need an additional 60-Bar sensor.

While in there, we chose to also replace the Temperature Sensor, since we have seen many of these units set false "overtemperature" warnings, even when the transmission was stone cold.

Absolutely get a workshop manual for this gearbox. It will walk the technician through disassembly to split the case and location of switches/solenoids. When splitting the case, one needs to know which bolts to remove and which to leave in place. There are also special tools to tackle this job, that includes seal installers, pulling fixtures, alignment pins, etc...

Once the case is split, the CCP and SAP will be in either case half. Not only did we replace all 4 Pressure Switches (Ferrari FF is an "D-Diff" car) but we opted the replace all the actuator O-rings (came in our kit). The old O-rings were stiff, so it was a good call. Some of these units also had issues with wire harness chaffing, so carefully inspect condition and routing of the harness. If any of the Zip-ties are broken or brittle, replace them.
